Matilda Cole’s latest track is a slow-burn indie-pop cut called ‘Camden’. It kicks off with subtle and slow guitar work which morphs into a thick textured wall of distorted sound, with Cole’s voice blending into the gritty, melodic timbre. “’Camden’ is really just a song about my parents splitting up,” she says. “A lot changed for me in a year, and watching their relationship deteriorate followed by selling the family home was harder for me to handle than I thought it would be.” Her debut EP has been streamed more than two million times, and it’s easy to see why. -Dan Peeke
